Viewless rooms at two star hotels in the area start at 100 Euros/night for one person and 7-9 Euros for breakfast. Please remember that quoted rates at hotels don't include taxes, phone calls, laundry, and extra charges for lots of things, so add 10-15% to all rates quoted by hotels!. If you want to use the phone, have an answering machine, do laundry or watch a video, include the significant savings afforded by access to your own apartment full of brand new appliances. The most substantial savings comes from having access to a fully equipped kitchen. If you prepare some meals at home instead of eating every meal at Parisian restaurants, count on saving $20-45 per person per meal eaten in. If you just want a morning caffein dose some days while still in your pajamas instead of trooping out to a cafe for that petite yet wonderful $2-5 cup of Parisian coffee, you'll be happy to make your own and sip it while looking out at the world from Le Vieux Paris! The greatest savings cannot be measured in dollars, however, but are in the feeling of having a place to call home, to leave money or passports or other things without worrying about hotels maids, a lovely building you can leave without being followed by pick-pockets, a phone number where people can reach you or leave a message, some fantastic wine and wonderful gourmet fare purchased at one of the many shops on the rue Mouffetard waiting for you in the fridge for those midnight snacks, and the feeling that you're really living in Paris instead of being just another tourist.
